Boat #3 - Liverpool Boat Co.

Another contender has to be Liverpool Boat Company, currently asking £51,707 for a fully fitted 55ft narrowboat and well below the £60,000 budget. It even leaves room for some upgrades and finishing touches.

From the standard specification, it already has a pump out loo, which is usually the first extra I look at.

Standard Price : £51,707

Liverpool Boat Co's Crick Boat

Extras:
Fenders                                                       £225
Back Guard Rail                                         £240
Deluxe Engine Panel                                   £195
Bow Lockers                                               £350
Diesel Central Heating                              £2000
Fair Leads (front & back)                             £60
3.5Kva Travel Power                                £2950
Battery Management                                  £350
Stainless Steel Water Tank                        £850

All up ... it comes to £58,927

I think window treatments such as blinds or curtains will be on top of that. Adding a few other nick nacks would bring it up to the £60K mark once you drive away.

But you would be nicely kitted out when you did.

Boat #2 - Viking Canal Boats

Next up, we have Viking Canal Boats.

They do a 57' narrowboat for :

Sailaway                       £24,156
Sailaway (Lined)          £31,672
Lined (+ additions)       £39,231
Fully Fitted                   £59,500

Viking's Standard 57ft Layout
Specifications, inclusions, add-ons and upgrades (with prices) can be found on their website.

This meets all criterea exactly, even price. In fact, if you are ready to move now ... they will do your choice of layout for  £53,530, including a 3 year warranty.  Or ... if a reverse layout floats your boat, the exact boat pictured is spec'd out and ready to roll for £52,250. Now thats a great price for a new boat this size.

This end of the market requires MDF is used instead of solid timber, though the standard of fittings and finish is acceptable. Bespoke layouts can be accommodated.

It includes things that are sometimes extras, such as, venetians and curtains, fenders, 3 x radiators and a heated towel rack. Pump out loo is do-able too.

I'll give this one the "Bang for buck" award.

Boat #1 - New & Used Boat Co.

Pushing the 'ish' about as far as it can go in the £60K ish budget requirement, we start with the New & Used Boat Co's Hanbury range

Their 57' comes in 4 layout configurations, all good, with prices FROM £65,950. So their is no room to move on any design changes that add to the cost, without blowing the budget out of the water.

Still .... the basic boats are mighty nice.

The layouts comprise two standard configurations (bed at stern) called the PEACOCK Range and two reverse configurations (bed forward) called the SWALLOWTAIL Range.

PEACOCK Range

And each standard and reverse layout comes with either side bathroom or walkthrough bathroom. Making the 4 layout range.

SWALLOWTAIL Range
Needless to say, that for this criterea, this range sets the benchmark quite high. Here are the interiors, starting forward, moving aft.
